School Mentor

At YMCA Milton Keynes & Northamptonshire, young people are at the heart of everything that we do, and we follow a clear vision and mission to ensure that we always put young people first. We want to offer a holistic mentoring approach in a school environment to meet young people’s emotional needs and help them to thrive in a school environment.

We are recruiting for a School Mentor to work on a Fixed Term Contract to the end of July 2026. You will work alongside students at agreed primary/secondary schools to help understand their needs and communicate this with the schools and other professionals to help improve their overall school experience.

The salary is £28,000 FTE p.a. pro-rated to working hours

You will work alongside students at agreed primary/secondary schools to help understand their needs and communicate this with the schools and other professionals to help improve their overall school experience.

You will motivate young people to be solution focused, creative and positive in their approach to obstacles. You will actively listen to young people and offer them a bespoke mentoring plan to help to meet their needs. You will look beyond academic performance, supporting them to reach their potential in emotional, social, personal and educational development. This will help students to become confident and happy to attend school.

You will embody these values, always representing a youth work approach in the school environment.
