Moving in

Paperwork
A meeting will be arranged with support staff to complete the Tenancy Agreement together with, if required, a housing benefit application. We also provide a tenancy pack giving full information.

Keys
Keys to be available and an inventory form will be provided for new residents to complete. Support staff will be available to show how to read the meters, where to find them and access times.

Get active - FREE activities for residents
Gym membership, volunteering, cooking course, one-off activities, art classes Dance classes (tbc). Contribute to the Residents' monthly newsletter.

FREE use of hostel lounge – available from 11am – 7pm

FAQs

How do I report a maintenance issue?
Please complete the Maintenance Request Form, a response should be within 4 days.

Where can I park my car?
MK Council have designated parking spaces for residents, please apply to the council for a permit.

Where do I put my rubbish?
In every block of flats there is a room located in the lobby area where your rubbish can be disposed of. Please place your bags in the bins provided.

What do I do if I am struggling to pay my rent?
Dont wait until you are in arrears, contact your Housing Support Officer or the Housing Team and we can help.

Can I have an internal transfer?
Should you wish to change to another flat, please contact the Housing Management Team.

Can my partner live with me?
We have a limited number of flats suitable for couples, please make your request to your Housing Officer.

How do I join the gym scheme?
Just contact the Housing Team who will arrange for you to complete a short form, have your photo taken and a membership card activated for your personal use.

What if I need to complain about something?
We do have a complaints procedure, please fill in the form.

Moving out – Ending your tenancy

What do I have to do?

Contact Reception on 01908 295600. the Housing Team or your Support Officer.

You must complete the Exit Form – this should be handed in at least 2 weeks before leaving otherwise you will continue to be charged rent. Contact the Housing Support Team to check your rent account.

All flats should be left in a clean and vacant condition. Furniture and all rubbish should be removed as a flat inspection will take place at the end of your tenancy. Your deposit will not be returned if the property is damaged and you may be charged if work is required to be carried out.

Meters

Read your electric and water meters and record the readings and notify your supplier.

Council Tax

If you require any help or advice contact your Support Worker or the Housing Team Notify the council and cancel payments.

FAQ’s

I have furniture I don’t want anymore
All furniture should be removed and the property cleaned and left in a good condition. If you do have unwanted furniture then please contact the Housing Team who will assist.

Do I have to clean my flat when I move out?
Yes, your flat should be left in the same condition as when you took it over. Cupboards and appliances should be wiped over inside and out. Bathrooms and sinks should be washed thoroughly and all posters removed from walls and doors. An inspection will be carried out before leaving.

What do I do with my keys?
All keys must be handed in to Reception where a signed receipt will be given. If not, a charge will be made as the keys will be treated as being lost.

When do I get my deposit back?
Subject to the condition of the flat and the tenancy agreement this should be returned within 10 days of vacating the property. Please note that your deposit will be returned in cheque form only.

Will you forward my mail on automatically?
To ensure your mail is received at your new address you must fill out a re-direction form at the Post office. You will need to take with you evidence of the address you are leaving, ie utility bill, benefit statement etc. All mail not re-directed will be handed in to Reception and it will be returned to sender, unless you have made arrangements with Reception to collect this.
