EXTERNAL ACTIVITIES

The YMCA in Milton Keynes is part of a worldwide movement changing the outcomes of young people’s lives. This is done through the delivery of a wide and extensive programme of activities and through the provision of mainly services aimed at young people. Through these works and from our long history, the YMCA has a wealth of experience and knowledge.

The YMCA is an open organisation and as such sees as part of its mission the on-going development of youth policy and engages fully with issues that affect the outcome for young people. The YMCA is not a political lobbying organisation, however is believes strongly that it has a responsibility to fully engage in these issues and to develop strategies which can change young peoples lives, not just through the services and programmes it runs but through all services for young people.

Nationally YMCA England employs several policy advisories who work with parliamentarians and other leading young agencies in shaping and advising on youth policy nationally. In Milton Keynes too the YMCA fully engages with other voluntary sector partners and statutory agency partners such as the Council and the health service providers in shaping local youth policy and the development of services in the area.
