Reverend David Moore
MK YMCA Board Member
David Baxter Centre – Chairperson of the Board
Profile: Theological oversight. David has been part of MK YMCA for 14 years and served as Chairperson for 11 years. His present role is to offer the Board a theological critique that embraces the Christian story as it functions as an inclusive, secular organisation. For many years David worked with homeless people in London, helping to establish several new charities, including Crisis. As an ideas person he is driven by an insatiable desire to peer over the horizon and peep around every corner.
As a theologian he recognises the Kingdom of God is both present and future and consequently his preferred area of work as Board member is the Development Committee. David worked as the City Centre Chaplain in MK for 8 years and has links throughout the city. He is a member of the Church of Christ the Cornerstone and a committed ecumenist. David is Chair of Tools for Self-Reliance MK, a charity that refurbishes hand tools and makes up tool kits for partner organisations in Africa.
He is also a sculptor and woodcarver who delights in putting his own twist on Biblical stories and cultural icons. He exhibits and is often asked to curate, design or carve. Although he is an ardent West Ham supporter he can often be spotted in the stands at MK Dons.
